> 3vis Joins the Movember Prostate Cancer Challenge
3vis principals, Sylvain, John, David and Stephan decided to join a global movement that is bringing much needed attention to prostate cancer. We are doing this by growing a Moustache this Movember, the month formerly known as November. Our commitment is to grow a moustache all November and look totally ridiculous every day for a good cause… changing the face of men’s health!
You can help the cause by either joining our team or make a donation.
The funds raised go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada.
All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Help us reach our 5,000$ goal.
We also invite you to monitor our moustaches progress here as we will be posting daily pictures of the growth.
Prostate Cancer Canada will use the money raised by Movember for the development of programs related to awareness, public education, advocacy, support of those affected, and research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of prostate cancer.

Video game creation requires the use of many different software applications. In our ever-changing technological universe, software resellers like 3vis play an important role for developers and the studios with which they do business. “Companies like Autodesk, for example, have thousands of employees,” explains Sylvain Plourde, President, 3vis. “There is a significant divide between this type of business and most studios, which generally employ between ten and five hundred people. Our job is to adapt to the needs of each business in order to provide the best possible support for game studios and ensure that developers’ interests are met.”
Whether the task is managing licenses, or providing consulting services to enhance a company’s chain of production, 3vis aims to support studios so that they can make the most of the resources available through particular software…

> NOV 18: Autodesk Webcast: From Art to Animation
Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. EST
Keynote Speaker: Marcel de Jong
Storyboards are graphic organizers such as a series of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, or motion graphic.
In order to secure a successful outcome of a design or animation project, artists will need to work through the concept art and visual storylines in the form of storyboards that function as a guide during the 3D modeling and animation process.
Starting off in Sketchbook Pro 2010 we can layout storyboards for animation, or design our concept along with orthographic views that we can then take into Autodesk® Maya® 2010, Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2010, or Autodesk® Softimage® 2010 for modeling.
Using background planes as a reference to build against, we can utilize any of our modeling workflow and UV layout tools to quickly block out the basic forms. Next, we can detail the finalized concept elements, textures, and decals in Autodesk® Mudbox® 2010 so that we can go back to our primary 3D solution to rig, animate and render our design.
